Offshore Wind Farm – Bulk Fuel Contamination Control

Project Snapshot

Client Type

Offshore wind farm operations

Service Provided

Vent system installation + automatic fuel filtration

Objective

Prevent airborne contaminant ingress and protect downstream equipment

Duration

One-off project (with ongoing monitoring available)

The Challenge

The existing fuel installation was experiencing contamination within the bulk fuel tank. Left unchecked, contaminants risk damaging pumps, clogging filters, and causing avoidable downtime for maintenance vessels and on-site plant.
Worker on contamination control

The Solution

Proprietary vent system fitted to prevent airborne contaminants entering the tank.

2

Automatic fuel filtration unit installed on the bulk tank to continuously polish the fuel, helping stop contaminated fuel from travelling downstream.

3

Configuration and verification to ensure stable flow, correct duty cycle, and appropriate micron ratings for ongoing protection.
Control panel with measurement devices.

The Outcome

Cleaner fuel reaching pumps and engines.
Lower risk of unplanned maintenance due to particulate or water contamination.
Greater confidence in fuel quality, supporting operational reliability.
